Your Reviews So Far Epson Dx8450 :- Good results printing from computer and copying Haven’t tried photos yet Handy, neat reasonable styling and unobtrusive Easy to set up out of the box Operation quiet except initial paper take up which starts with a ’snap’. Alternative inks supplies are available Bad points: - If you start a print but forget to open the paper out tray then you can end up with a paper jam - There is nothing you can open or release to rectify paper jams - can be very tricky/worrying - I have a feeling the transport will last until a paper jam kills it whereupon the printer will have to be replaced - It’s a pity they don’t give you some sample photo paper. - Software takes a while to load from CD - slightly confusing installation sequence caused I think by previous Epson CX3200 software being present (even though I uninstalled it). It would be nice if they did a similar printer with a flat bed paper input stack - but I guess that’s not easy. Score 7/10 - held back from full marks by concern over paper jams. Just purchased to a Epson Dx8450 printer to replace existing older model. For around £80 this is excellent value for money. Print quality far superior to previous rx450 even when new ( which I thought was good ) Much faster printing , all in all don’t spend your money on anything else,cheap refills also. Had HP, 5/10 Canon, 7/10 Lexmark, 2/10 And Epsom 9/10. Only critism,slightly noisy motor when paper passing through but could just be my machine. R.Lake hi..just bought a Epson Dx8450 printer and value for money..ease of cartridge change and quality of prints are all first class..very simple and quick to get used to and would recommend this product to anyone who dosen`t want to break the bank for a really good product. Great Printer, however shows out of ink when there is still some left, this then locks out the printer until replaced, you can not even print in just black and white at this stage, wait for new cartridges to arrive Looks good. It took a lot of time to install. I had to uninstall twice. USB cable difficult to fit in a very small narrow opening unless you have very small fingers. Original Epson ink cartridges supplied a bit of a con just enough to set it up ! I had to search for a supplier of cartridges, it appears that the DX800 series may cover the DX8450 .... awaiting delivery. As it is also a stand alone printer that is useful. I have been satisfied with the printing so far, you just have to make sure the paper is correctly placed. Display screen is a good size, the angle can be adjusted for better viewing ... still a lot to work through ! it gets easier.Bought mine on sale for £58.99, and was looking to buy both an epson printer as a replacement for my old Epson C68 that died, and a small photo printer for my daughter, the Epson DX8450 does both jobs for half the price! particularly wanted epson because of the availability of cheap ink supplies, for the average stuff that I want to print, generally after a couple of refills the printer has paid for itself so its demise from over work is OK! Photoprinting is of reasonable quality, from just putting the memory card in or connecting the camera direct or from the harddrive of the computer,I am only using a basic photo software but the results are good, the scanner is quick and easy the copier is just great. and the whole unit is neat and tidy looking, the paper feed is a bit noisy on first "pull" but as everyone has mentioned it, its not just me! I would definitely recommend the Epson DX8450! HOWEVER, I have used my regular supplier of replacement inks, and have had so much grief I went to PC World and bought a full set of Epson! (it was Sunday and I needed something for monday!!) So I am trusting YOUR Guarantee here and buying from you for the first time! if your ink is OK, I WILL be more than happy to recommend it and say so!! The DX8450 was bought to replace a Lexmark all in one printer. There are some useful features on the Epson ie card reader etc, but the Lexmark was much quieter and easier to use than the Epson, I hope I have made the right choice. Your pages asked me what I thought of this printer. Well…..print quality is excellent, both in colour and B&W, paper loading is quite fiddly, but manageable. But the major downside to this machine is its appetite for ink; this is nigh on unquenchable. Moreover it won’t print on just the black cartridge if any of the colours is “out” (ok, this might just be me). The internet-ink cartridges last marginally longer than Epson ones but the consumables costs make this printer a lousy investment. Although the printer looks very tempting in PC World at a large discount, no literature, or, sales staff advise that you are just buying a ticket to give large, on- going sums of money to the Epson Corporation! Since buying this printer the overall impression is good, Good quality (if slow) photo printing, good general printing and good photo copying. The scanner is easy to use and the 'Comic' instructions work well. Overall 8 out of 10. Very fiddly to load paper. Epson cartridges are good quality but contain very little ink
I am used to a cartridge lasting months - they are very expensive for the amonut of ink.
Software allows a lot of different tasks. The resulting printing looks good. The genuine Epson ink was shockingly fast to run out. I literally couldn't believe it when, after 10 years of using HP printers, my new Epson ran out of ink within a week. Very very poor effort and although I would like to buy genuine Epson ink, I will not play their game. The cost is comparable to other genuine inks, but the amount you get is miniscule. The only alternative is to go for a 'compatible' to get a fair amount of ink per cartidge. I think Epson scored an own goal here.
Good print results but tends to be difficult to get the paper width adjusted exactly right. If you don't it prints half pages. Drinks ink very fast and plays up with compatibles. About to try yours to see if they work.
